MARCH UNPHC EDX
March brings the vernal equinox, the Full Worm Moon and the return of Daylight Saving Time. As well, it is the month of International Women’s Day!
Here at UNPHC, our theme to dive into is Apartment and Independent Living; how to make the most of your space, your neighborhood, and your place in it.
We believe that every resident deserves to feel empowered and supported in their journey towards independence and well-being. Whether you’re a seasoned resident or new to apartment living, we’ve got valuable insights and tips to enhance your experience.
Don’t wait to report maintenance issues:
A great benefit of Apartment living is help is a phone call away. Report issues with your water, electricity, heating/cooling, and pests as soon as it happens. The sooner we know, the sooner we can help. Call your property manager, or resident assistant ASAP.
Be a Considerate Neighbor: Mr. Rogers had it right, kindness and respect are key. Respect your neighbors’ privacy and space by keeping noise levels down, especially during quiet hours. Simple gestures like greeting your neighbors in the hallway can go a long way in fostering a sense of community.
Build a Support Network: Don’t hesitate to reach out to your neighbors and property managers for support. Building a strong support network can make a world of difference in your apartment living experience. Many of our UNPHC properties offer various amenities and resources for residents. From fitness centers to community events to movie nights, make sure to take advantage of these offerings to enhance your quality of life.
Practice Self-Advocacy: It’s important to advocate for your needs and rights as a resident. If you encounter any issues or concerns, don’t hesitate to communicate them with your property management.
Stay Connected: Loneliness can be a common challenge in apartment living. Make an effort to stay connected with friends and family, both in-person and virtually, to combat feelings of isolation.
Organization is Key: Maximize your space by keeping your apartment organized. Invest in storage solutions such as baskets, shelves, and hooks to keep clutter at bay.
Stay Safe: Familiarize yourself with emergency procedures and contact information for your building. Know your fire exits and keep a 72-hour kit on hand. Practice online safety hygiene, as well as in person. Stay aware and stay connected. UT
We wish you good health and much happiness.
